Zoe D’amato treks to the fiery crater of the Kilauea Shield Volcanoes on Big Island, and recounts the fate of the great Captain James Cook at Kealakekua Bay. Then Zoe heads off to the old whaling island of Maui, with its sandy beaches and sapphire seas. After a swim, and sampling of the local sugar cane, Zoe flies to Oahu, Honolulu and Waikiki beach, to visit the Moana Surfrider Hotel, renowned for America’s early, vacationing socialites
At Lolani Palace, Zoe tries classic island cocktails and local food, and then paddles on a Polynesian outrigger, similar to the sailboats that first crossed the Pacific Ocean. At Mele, a Polynesian artist shows off bird feather capes, worn by Hawaii’s Polynesian kings.
At Kauai, the “Emerald Isle,” Zoe takes a helicopter flight over canyons and water- falls, experiencing the gorgeous island. At a botanical garden that harvests foods brought over 1700 years ago by Polynesians, Zoe buys some local seashell, jewelry, and then finally kayaks down the Walua River.
