Join all our popular hosts; Ian Wright, Justine Shapiro, Megan McCormick, Zay Harding, Brianna Barnes, Holly Morris and Judith Jones, as they travel around the world along some of its most historic routes, beginning in Washington DC and ending in the old world capital of Vienna.

Episode 1: Route 66 & Beyond with Justine Shapiro

Legendary Globe Trekker host Justine Shapiro kicks off our Around The World journey with a road trip across the United States following in the footsteps of the American Dream. Starting in the historic river port of Lynchburg, Virginia she follows the Blue Ridge Parkway, journeying to Tennessee and the city of Nashville. She visits its famous country music sites and the old plantation home of US President, Andrew Jackson. In Memphis she visits the National Civil Rights Museum and the Lorraine Hotel, site of the brutal assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. She then she stops in at Graceland, the famous home of Elvis Presley, to check out his famous car and personal aircraft collections. Justine then hits the legendary Route 66, stopping at a giant cattle auction in Oklahoma City. She then joins the Trail of Tears memorial walk for Native Americans before crossing the Texas Panhandle into Arizona where she visits the world s best preserved Meteor Crater.

Episode 2: Pan Americana Part 1 with Judith Jones

Judith Jones travels through Mexico from northern Chihuahua to the central state of Zacatecas learning about the history of the Spanish conquistadors, visiting the pre-Incan Toltec site of Tula, and discovering civilizations which pre-dated the Mayans and Aztecs. In Michoac n she witnesses the butterfly fishermen of Lake Patzcuaro, while in Mexico City she visits the remains of the Aztec temple Huitzilopochtli and the National Palace before travelling to Cuernavaca and a 900 year old Aztec Pyramid in Tepoztlan.

Episode 3: Pan Americana Part 2 with Brianna Barnes

Brianna Barnes travels through Peru exploring the land of the Incas, from Cajamarca to Cuzco, the nearby Sacred Valley, and the ruins of the former Incan fortresses of Ollantaytambo. After taking a train to the abandoned mountain-top city of Machu Picchu, she takes a spectacular bike trek in Colca Canyon, then ventures to Arequipa where Inca buried their dead around the summits of spectacular volcanoes. She finishes with a trek to the summit of Nevado Pichu Pichu, sacred to the ancient Inca and Peruvians today.

Episode 4: Pacific Journeys Part 1 with Zay Harding

Zay Harding goes on an epic adventure across the South Pacific Islands in pursuit of the remaining vestiges of Polynesian culture. Starting in Chile s capital, Santiago, he journeys to Easter Island, visiting the Moai statues before venturing to French Polynesia and its Garden of Eden, Tahiti and the island of Moorea. He finishes the journey on a two-day sail to Pitcairn Island concluding his epic adventure by diving the remains of the HMS Bounty.

Episode 5: Pacific Journeys Part 2 with Zay Harding

Zay continues across the Pacific to Tonga, Fiji and New Caledonia. From Pitcairn Island, he visits Mangareva in French Polynesia then flies to the Kingdom of Tonga and visits the Stonehenge of Polynesia: the Ha amonga, before flying to the island of Eua. Zay then heads to Fiji s main island Viti Levu, taking in the culture and touring the breathtaking Sri Siva Subramaniya Hindu temple. After visiting Norfolk Island, he finishes in the French dependency of New Caledonia, meeting indigenous people in Hienghene and Tiedonit and trekking to the Tao waterfall.

Episode 6: The Silk Road Part 1 with Megan McCormick

Megan McCormick travels along China s section of the Silk Road trade route, exploring the country s ancient past and dazzling future. Beginning in Xi an, ancient China s capital city, she visits the Terracotta Warriors, and the Muslim Market. Continuing through China s Gansu Province she visits the oasis towns of Jiayuguan and Dunhuang. She then camel rides across Dunhuang s sand dunes into Xinjiang, digs for jade in Khotan and visits the livestock market in Kashgar before ending her journey in the stunning Pamir Mountains at China s Western border.

Episode 7: The Silk Road Part 2 with Holly Morris

Holly Morris continues our journey across the ancient Silk Road. Beginning in the mountainous country of Kyrgyzstan, she travels to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan before catching the train to the ancient city of Samarkand and the nearby city of Bukhara. She then treks through remote desert visiting Turkmenistan and the rarely seen ruins of ancient Merv. From here she travels to Azerbaijan, exploring Baku, before catching the train to Tbilisi in Georgia. From Tbilisi, Holly heads on to Konya in Turkey, capital of the ancient Seljuk Empire, travelling in a camel caravan. Her final destination and terminus of the Silk Road, is Istanbul.

Episode 8: East to West with Ian Wright

Veteran Globe Trekker presenter Ian Wright concludes our epic Around The World journey bridging the gap between East and West on a journey from the cosmopolitan city of Istanbul, to one of Europe s grandest and most sophisticated hubs, Vienna. Beginning in Istanbul, Ian visits the S åÕåÔΩleymaniye Mosque to experience the grandeur of the Ottoman Empire and learn about its ambitious Sultan, Suleiman the Magnificent and his ambitions to expand the Ottoman Empire West into Europe. Crossing into Bulgaria he explores the Roman ruins in Plovdiv and dons a toga to join in an ancient Thracian ritual. He then travels to Serbia, where the Nis Skull Tower stands as a reminder of Ottoman raids and rule. After a ride on the argan Eight Narrow Gauge Railway it s on to the Croatian coast and a road trip to Dubrovnik, Split and Rijeka. Then after a quick dip in the world s largest thermal lake in Hungary his journey ends in Vienna, home of Mozart and Sigmund Freud, and also where he discovers how crucial the city s bakers were to surviving the Ottoman siege in 1683.
